Tax Collector/Treasurer’s News

Due to some changes in the Assessors’ Office, it looks like our tax rate will not be set until the end of December.  Once the rate is set, it takes me about a week to load the tax file and to print and mail out the tax bills.  With that in mind, my best estimate of a due date for the fiscal year 2022 first-half Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills will be the end of January or early February.  They will be due 30 days from the date of mailing.

For those that itemize on their income taxes and want to make a real estate or personal property tax payment by December 31, 2021, you are more than welcome to make an estimated tax payment based off of your fiscal year 2021 taxes.

If making an estimated payment, please include a note stating it is an estimated fiscal year 2022 tax payment and include your bill number and/or parcel id (this can be found on any previous year tax bill).  Payments should be mailed to the Town of Peru, Tax Collector, 3 East Main Road, Suite 101, Peru, MA 01235.  Payments can also be made in person on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
