The state department of public health has made available to the Town of Peru free Covid test kits by iHealth five test kits per box. Also, the Berkshire Public health Alliance has made Narcan kits available, which include fentanyl test strips also for free and can be picked up confidentially.
Both Narcan and Covid test kits will be available at Town Hall, the transfer station, the library, and by calling Peggy White, Peru, Board of Health, 413–6 55–2020.
We are planning to sponsor a Narcan training and opiate awareness program in the future, and will spread the word as soon as plans are finalized.
The Narcan kits include information regarding signs of overdose, and use of Narcan and it is recommended that if there is a concern that someone is overdosing, even without formal training Narcan should be administered after first calling 911.
