Town of Peru Historical Commission Mission Statement
In accordance with Massachusetts State Law Chapter 40 Section 8D the Peru Historical Commission shall identify, protect and preserve the historical heritage and resources of the town of Peru. To accomplish this mission, the Commission shall provide, but not be limited to, the following:
· Research, compile and maintain an inventory of the town's historic assets.
· Encourage community awareness and interest in Peru’s historical heritage, and maintain a presence on the internet in conjunction with the Town’s website in order to promote preservation of those assets.
· Act as a historical resource in cooperation with the Peru Town Library and other town Boards and Committees as needed.
The Commission consists of 5 members who are appointed by the Select Board. Current members are listed on the Town website. Commission meetings are held bi-monthly on the second Saturday at Noon at the Peru Town Hall
 
The Commission collects and preserves both information and physical items of Peru history, and accepts donations of historic nature for our collection of Peru artifacts. Photos of Peru’s past are especially treasured.
